Family Therapy Specialties

Suzette is a therapist that specializes in working with issues of depression and grieving. Her therapy focuses on working with family survivors of suicide, unexpected and traumatic death and the passing away of a loved one. Suzette understands at a very deep and personal level herself, the immense energy and courage it takes to get through the grieving journey especially of a traumatic death of a loved one. Nothing deepens the despair of a loss more than isolation and depression. You don’t have to be alone in your grief. There can be renewed life, hope and even happiness and joy if you can journey though grief with love and compassion. After a suicide or traumatic death, family members often blame themselves or worst still are blamed for the death. In therapy, Suzette can help you understand how depression is the major component in suicide and why people sometimes choose to end their pain.

Suzette also specializes in working with adolescents. Suzette worked for over a decade with children in foster care and adoption. Many of these children had experienced severe physical, sexual and emotional abuse and many suffered from attachment disorders after adoption. Suzette also worked as a high school counselor in Orange County. Her extensive experience in working with adolescents is now offered in her Orange County private practice. Some of the issues that she works through in therapy are depression, suicidality, cutting, dating abuse, drugs and alcohol, academic issues, family conflict and simply – growing up in the great O.C. and all its challenges and opportunities.
